Leader visits Wirral Met campus to tackle democratic deficit

Wirral Met College has played host to an important democracy debate aimed at driving up political engagement amongst young people.Following the 2015 general election, polling organisation IPSOS Mori said that people aged 18-24 were only half as likely to vote as those over 65.Just 44% of young people aged 18-24 voted in the election, compared to 76% of the over 65.Cllr Phil Davies, the Leader of Wirral Council, met pupils from the college at the Twelve Quays campus, and took part in a Q&A session to raise awareness of politics.Posted on 1 December 2015 - 4:02pm
