Closure order issued on anti-social behaviour hotspot

Post by Wirral Council News » Tue Jun 21, 2022 11:59 am

Wirral Council and Merseyside Police have successfully applied for and obtained a Closure Order at Liverpool Magistrates Court after a succession of crime and anti-social behaviour incidents at an address in Egremont.

The order was granted after complaints against the tenants of the ground floor flat at 69 King Street, Wallasey.

Residents reported that people were attending the address day and night and engaging in anti-social behaviour and drug-related criminal activity. The behaviour included threats, shouting, foul language, illegal drug use and people banging on the property to be let in at anti-social hours.

Wirral Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team started receiving complaints regarding the address on the 5th November 2021 but despite a closure warning being served to the tenant of the address, the behaviour continued.

A closure notice was served on the property on 7th June 2022 only allowing the tenant to remain until a full hearing. On the 10th June 2022, a three-month Full Closure Order was granted by Liverpool Magistrates Court to prevent any person from entering the property and provide much need respite to the local community.

The occupant from this property is now receiving support and advice from local charities and services.

The order remains in force until 13th September 2022 and prohibits any person from entering the property unless they have permission to do so from Wirral Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

Any individuals that are found to be in the property with no legal entitlement to be there are subject to being arrested and are liable for a prison sentence of up to three months or a fine of up to £5,000 or both.
