Garden waste will continue to operate 4-weekly collections temporarily

Post by Wirral Council News » Fri Feb 05, 2021 10:53 am

For the time being, brown (garden waste) bin collections will be continuing to operate a 4-weekly collection due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19 on the bin crew staff.

Biffa, Wirral’s waste collection contractor, do not have enough people to restart the brown bin collections on a fortnightly basis as usual as staff levels continue to be too low due to those who are shielding or have confirmed or suspected symptoms.

Residents subscribed to the service will instead continue to receive a garden waste collection once every four weeks instead of once every two weeks.

Current subscribers to the garden waste collection service should visit the council’s website to find out when their next collection date will be and search by street name.

The 4-weekly collections continue to be a temporary arrangement to prioritise the collection of green (general waste) and grey (recycling) bins.

Subscribers to the garden waste collection service will receive all of the postponed collections from the previous subscription year before needing to sign up again.

For the latest updates on bin collections, visit wirral.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling, follow Wirral Council on Facebook or Twitter or visit the Wirral View website.
