Funds available for groups wanting to make Wirral green

Post by Wirral Council News » Fri Oct 09, 2020 4:18 pm

Community groups, charities, schools and faith groups can access up to £50,000 for projects that focus on the environment.

Not-for-profit groups can apply for funds to run projects or events that will address key environmental issues such as climate change and resilience, air quality, biodiversity, carbon and environment literacy and energy reduction.

The Community Environment Fund, funded by Liverpool City Region, aims to help organisations continue to support and engage communities to engage in a range of environmental activities. Any projects submitted for the fund should aim to:

Improve the environment in the Liverpool City Region (LCR)
Encourage long-term behavioural change
Promote community engagement and participation in environmental projects
Depending on the project, funding is available in three different streams.

Stream one gives applicants the opportunity to access between £20,000 to £50,000 for projects that will benefit Wirral and at least one other authority area in the Liverpool City Region.

Stream two is for projects focused on a single authority area and between £5,000 and £20,000 is available to applicants.

Applications for stream one and two will remain open until 9am on 5 November 2020.

For more information and to apply for the Community Environment Fund, groups should visit Liverpool City Region website.

Groups are encouraged to submit their application forms as soon as the application is complete.

For any questions, you can view the Application Guidance or FAQs from Liverpool City Region.

A further funding opportunity will open on Monday 19 October, Stream 3, and is aimed at smaller community projects at a school, local park or street. Groups can apply for £300 to £1,500 for these projects. Applications will close at 9am on Monday 23 November 2020.
