Love Parks Week is back 13-22 July and it’s a chance for you to share just why you love your parks and make the time to get out and enjoy Wirral’s green spaces.
The national initiative is back for its 12th year and this time the theme is all around childhood memories of things you learnt to do at a park; like your first cartwheel, learning to ride a bike, kite flying or roller skating. Share your favourite memory on social media and use the hashtag #LoveParks.
To mark the week we’re encouraging as many people as possible to make time to go and enjoy one of Wirral’s many parks and share what you love about any of Wirral’s parks on social media using the hashtag #LoveParks.
Wirral is home to some of the most prestigious parks in the region, recognised when Birkenhead Park recently received the international Large Urban Park Gold Standard award.
Cllr Phillip Brightmore, Cabinet member for Leisure and Recreation said:
“Love Parks Week is a great chance for us all to get out and enjoy the many beautiful parks that Wirral has to offer. “We have the best parks in the country, which is testament to the hard work and dedication of park staff and volunteer groups who work so hard at making our green spaces the envy of the UK.
“To keep our parks at this high standard we’re continuing to invest in our open spaces which we know are important to our residents. We are currently spending around £300,000 on a range of upgrades and improvements, such as; improved toilets and football changing facilities, better access to country parks and the dredging of lakes.
“Love Parks Week is a great chance for us all to get out and enjoy the amazing parks that Wirral has to offer.”
Wirral’s parks have a range of events on this and every week, to take a look at what’s available visit the what’s on section of the Wirral View website. You can find a list of parks across Wirral online.
Love Parks Week is organised by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy as a chance to gather public support to secure the quality of parks across the country. You can find out more about the week on the Keep Britain Tidy website.
