Toast 70 years of the NHS with a cuppa and cake

Post by Wirral Council News » Thu Jul 05, 2018 11:17 am

As part of the national celebration of the NHS’ 70th birthday, the public are being asked to raise a cuppa for a ‘Big 7Tea’ party.

The NHS ‘Big 7Tea’ is a chance for people across Wirral to come together and toast 70 glorious years of the NHS on Thursday 5 July and throughout the summer months.

Locally, there are different ways you can get involved.

You can join our home-grown Olympic hero, hockey player Sam Quek at Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust free, celebratory tea party event at St Catherine’s Health Centre, Derby Road. Drop in any time on 5 July between 1pm and 4pm for a cuppa and a cake.

If you’d like to host your own tea party, WUTH Charity, the charity of Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is asking you to invite friends, family and work colleagues to mark the occasion as well as raise funds to help support the vital work taking place at one of the region’s biggest and busiest hospitals.

The NHS Big 7Tea party is your chance to celebrate the NHS and its achievements, to appreciate the role it plays in all our lives, and to recognise and thank the extraordinary staff - the everyday heroes who are there to guide, support and care for us, day in, day out.

To host a ‘Big 7Tea’ celebration, a special resource pack has been made available full of downloadable posters, bunting and selfie props. Register for a fundraising pack now at or email for details.
