Snow showers that have hit Wirral overnight are having an impact on people's journeys this morning.

The council's gritting teams have been out twice since midnight treating the main roads, major bus routes and other key areas, as set out by our gritting routes. However, motorists are urged to drive safely on every road, particularly in the early parts of the morning. Salt alone does melt snow and ice, it needs traffic needs to drive over a gritted road in order to grind the salt and activate it. Extra care needs to be taken on untreated minor roads and pavements.
