Dutch indie pop comes to Birkenhead Library

Post by Wirral Council News » Fri Jan 11, 2019 10:07 am

Birkenhead Library is delighted to host a very special music show next month.

Dutch indie-rocker, Pip Blom, is set to play at the Library on Sunday February 3rd 2019, in collaboration with Get it Loud in Libraries for Independent Venue Week 2019.

Independent Venue Week is a 7-day celebration of intimate, alternative venues that allows fans across the country to get up close to the hottest up and coming artists.

Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood – who was the Official Ambassador of Independent Venue Week in 2014 - believes that independent venues are ‘crucial for the musical development of the UK’ as they provide local artists with places to hone their show skills and share them with new audiences.

Get it Loud in Libraries already has a long history of unearthing new talent, boasting gigs by Adele, Blossoms, and Florence & the Machine to name a few, at the very early stages of their careers.

Now Pip Blom and her band are set to take to the stage in Birkenhead, at the landmark library building, following their signing to Heavenly Records and recent Edison Awards nomination.

The library itself has been described as ‘the Wirral’s freshest and most inclusive live music venue’ (Independent Venue Week). This will be only the second gig to take place at Birkenhead Library, following Brooklyn art-punk band, BODEGA in July 2018.

That occasion earned praise for the ‘incredibly one off intimate show’ from GetIntoThis. Get it Loud in Libraries shows their commitment to bringing live music to areas that are often excluded from tours with their planned return to the Wirral.

Tickets are on sale at See Tickets. See the Get it Loud in Libraries page for all upcoming gigs.
