Healthwatch Wirral has won a national award recognising its Infobank service for providing health advice to patients and their families.
Developed in partnership with Wirral University Teaching Hospital, the Infobank service offers information on a wide range of services – from help quitting smoking to finding a care home for a loved one.
Now the valued service has been honoured at the 2018 Healthwatch Network Awards, which received a record-breaking 170 entries from over 100 Healthwatch teams this year.
The entries were whittled down to a shortlist of 35 entries across seven categories – with Healthwatch Wirral picking up the award for ‘Giving people the advice and information they need’.
Helen Parker, award judge and Healthwatch National Committee Member, said:
“Healthwatch Wirral have mixed collaboration, information and providing advice to deliver significant improvements in the numbers of people they engaged with over the last year.
“Patients, families and friends, NHS staff and other professionals have all benefitted from this central point of support and information.”
The Infobank service has now helped more than 12,000 people receive health advice and support in Wirral.
The Healthwatch Wirral Board said:
“We would like to thank all of the staff, volunteers and partners in helping to fulfil our aim of collaboration and strong relationships. Combined with good community knowledge and the attitude that every voice counts, Healthwatch Wirral is a community asset and ‘go to’ organisation."
