-Prenton Hall Road- Multiple Road Problems, 22nd August

Post by fixmystreet » Wed Aug 22, 2018 5:40 pm

For many years now, this road has been in a sub-standard condition. The cheap, concrete slab being used as a road surface as opposed to tarmac means that cars and buses travelling along the road cause a lot more noise pollution than they need to, even sometimes causing fixtures inside houses to shake. The cheap concrete surface also causes a much rougher driving experience compared to tarmac. Furthermore, the cheap slabs currently being used as a 'pavement' are a health and safety nightmare, as they regularly come loose and present a tripping hazard to residents. A side problem is that weeds regularly grow through the gaps in the 'pavement'. The pavement should be tarmac, as well as the road, to present a smooth, level surface to improve safety. This is also better for the environment as tarmac can be recycled and more easily replaced, reducing cost. Furthermore, the complete lack of traffic calming measures or speed cameras means that speeding is a constant issue, with people regularly exceeding the 30mph speed limit, especially on scrambler bikes, only slowing down for the corner where the park is located. Without any crossings, speed cameras or traffic calming measures, this presents a real danger to pedestrians and cyclists.
